deux poèmes de paul verlaine

Automne, chemin à travers les bois, 1876
Camille Pissarro

En sourdine

Calmes dans le demi-jour
Que les branches hautes font,
Pénétrons bien notre amour
De ce silence profond.

Fondons nos âmes, nos coeurs
Et nos sens extasiés,
Parmi les vagues langueurs
Des pins et des arbousiers.

Ferme tes yeux à demi,
Croise tes bras sur ton sein,
Et de ton coeur endormi
Chasse à jamais tout dessein.

Laisson-nous persuader
Au souffle berceur et doux
Qui vient à tes pieds rider
Les ondes de gazon roux.

Et quand, solennel, le soir
Des chênes noirs tombera,
Voix de notre désespoir,
Le rossignol chantera.

A la sordina

Sosegados en la media luz
que procuran las altas ramas,
penetremos bien nuestro amor
de este silencio profundo.

Fundamos nuestras almas, nuestros corazones
y nuestros sentidos extasiados,
entre la vaga languidez
de los pinos y los madroños.

Cierra los ojos a medias,
cruza los brazos sobre el pecho,
y de tu corazón adormecido
aleja para siempre todo propósito.

Dejémonos persuadir
al soplo arrollador y dulce
que viene a tus pies a rizar
las olas de hierba roja.

Y cuando, solemne, la noche,
de los robles negros caiga,
voz de nuestra desesperanza,
el ruiseñor cantará.

L’heure exquise

La lune blanche
Luit dans les bois ;
De chaque branche
Part une voix
Sous la ramée...

O bien-aimée.

L’étang reflète,
Profond miroir,
La silhouette
Du saule noir
Où le vent pleure.

Révons, c’est l'heure !

Un vaste et tendre
Apaisement
Semble descendre
Du firmament
Que l’astre irise.

C’est l’heure exquise.

La hora exquisita

La luna blanca
luce en los bosques;
de cada rama
parte una voz
bajo el ramaje...

Oh, bien amada.

El estanque refleja,
profundo espejo,
la silueta
del sauce negro
donde el viento llora.

¡Soñemos, es la hora!

Un vasto y tierno
sosiego
parece descender
del firmamento
que el astro irisa.

Es la hora exquisita.

Simon & Garfunkel: Old Friends, Disc 1

The Sound Of Silence
By Paul Simon

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

Fools, said I
You do not know, silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the signs said
The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whisper'd the sounds of silence
